Colorado Trail Day 6: Rest, Hydrate, and Prepare for Segment 2 Hike

I got up around 8:30 AM, got myself together, did laundry, and washed off in the river. My plan today is to rest, hydrate, and then start hiking Segment 2 between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM.

I set out around 3:48 PM to hike part of Segment 2. It was still quite hot, especially in the burn areas. Despite the lack of tree coverage, the vegetation and views had their own beauty. As I was hiking, I noticed a storm brewing in the distance. I began to worry because I needed to make camp before the storm hit. Thankfully, I found a spot in time.

Once the tent was set up and the food was cooking, I lit a fire to warm myself. After the fire burned out and dinner was digested, I covered the coals with sand, ensuring they were completely out, and then settled in for the night.
