Colorado Trail: Day 9 – Exploring Scenic Aspen Forest and Inclines

This morning, we all got ready to load the shuttle back to the Rolling Creek Trailhead. The trail started off fine, with a few inclines and a beautiful forest filled with aspen trees. But after that, the incline was brutal and seemed to go on forever. I got separated from the four other people I started with. I was moving really slowly up the incline, which felt like it was taking forever. Despite the difficulty, I tried to enjoy it as much as possible. When I finally got over the high point, it was a great descent. I did take a stumble in Lost Creek, but it was nothing major.

As I continued walking, I came across Ash and Abby. They were chilling under the shade, and I joined them for a rest. After about 10 minutes, we started again through the long meadow. But first, we came across a creek. We stopped to dip ourselves in it, soak our aching feet, and fill our water bottles. Then we continued through the meadow. We were planning to go another three miles, but we came across a camp where the other two people from our group had set up for the night. We decided to stop and camp with them.
